Industry Associations
Industry associations advocate for the interests of their members and often play an important role in shaping standards and promoting best practices in their industries. The CCTS works with telecom and TV industry associations that operate across Canada.
Are you an industry association that’s interested in working with the CCTS? Contact our Stakeholder Relations team at StakeholderRelations@ccts-cprst.ca.
The Canadian Association of Broadcasters (CAB)
The Canadian Telecommunications Association (CAB) is the national voice of Canada’s private broadcasters, representing the vast majority of Canadian programming services, including private radio and television stations, networks, specialty, pay and pay-per-view services. The goal of the CAB is to represent and advance the interests of Canada’s private broadcasters in the social, cultural and economic fabric of the country.
Canadian Telecommunications Association (CTA)
The CTA is an industry association for some of Canada’s wireless carriers.
The CTA also administers the Short Code text (SMS) program. This is the process under which consumers can receive commercial text messages (also known as “premium text messages”) on their cell phones. The CTA has created the www.txt.ca website, which contains full details of the program and related information about text messaging.
