We have recently been made aware of a telemarketing scam being committed by persons claiming to represent the Commission for Complaints for Telecom-television Services (CCTS).
It has been reported to us by consumers that they received a text message from the perpetrators of the scam. The message asked the recipient either to provide payment for filing a complaint with the CCTS, or to click on a link in the message to receive payment from the CCTS in connection with a complaint they had filed.
The CCTS does not issue payments to customers who have filed complaints, nor does it request payment from consumers who file complaints. The CCTS is a FREE service for all Canadians, and does not contact its customers via text messages.
If you are suspicious of a correspondence from the CCTS and want to verify the validity of the message, call us at 1-888-221-1687, or email us at response@ccts-cprst.ca
