On July 19, 2022, the Government of Canada issued a new policy direction which instructed the Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission (CRTC) to strengthen the ability of the CCTS to better fulfill its mandate. This includes:
- Increasing its operational capacity;
- Ensuring that the perspectives of consumer and civil-society groups are better reflected in its governance;
- Improving compliance with the CCTS’ Rules; and
- Increasing public awareness of the CCTS and its complaint-resolution process.
The CCTS has submitted a response to the government’s directive, which can be found on the Government of Canada’s website.
