An Update Regarding Axsit

Ottawa – On July 5, 2016, the Commissioner of Complaints for Telecommunications Services (CCTS) issued a media release to inform the public and Axsit’s customers that this VOIP service provider is in breach of its obligations by failing to compensate a customer as required following investigation by CCTS of the customer’s complaint.

We have since learned that the owner of Axsit, Peter Sliwka, is now attempting to sell Axsit, a Mississauga, Ontario-based company which he claims has 1,000 customers. In an email to prospective purchasers, he writes that “Many of these clients can be up-sold and converted into double and triple play bundles.”

Axsit has failed to respond to CCTS’ communications seeking to obtain a refund for the complaining customer.

Mr. Sliwka was previously the principal of VOIPGO, a telecom service provider against which the CRTC commenced a proceeding in 2013 because it had failed to join CCTS when required to do so. The CRTC dropped its proceeding against VOIPGO based on Mr. Sliwka’s assertion that Axsit had acquired all of VOIPGO’s customers, and that Axsit had joined CCTS.

CCTS continues its efforts to obtain compensation for the customer.
