Notice to Consumers – Vishing
We have been informed that at least one Canadian recently received a call from someone claiming to be an employee of CCTS. This person stated that he was calling because CCTS had detected unusual internet activity on the customer’s account which he wanted to discuss. No additional details about this call are available at this time.
The person who claimed to be calling on behalf of CCTS is not a CCTS employee. CCTS is an independent organization who helps consumers and participating telecommunications service providers resolve complaints relating to telecommunications services. We do not have access to customer accounts nor do we have the ability to monitor and detect unusual service activity.
We recommend that anyone who receives a call such as this not disclose personal information to the caller and report the matter to the Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre.
