Structure and Funding
We are a not-for-profit organization under Part II of the Canada Corporations Act. Governance is provided by an independent Board of Directors which ensures our independence.
We bill participating service providers for our services and to help recover our expenses. Participating service providers must pay a one-time membership fee that is based on their proportion of revenues obtained from providing telecommunications services to the public. They must also pay fees on an annual basis. The annual fees are based on the number of complaints that are received about a particular service provider and the effort directed at resolving the complaint.
